ACB arrests Sonipat SI taking Rs.60,000 bribe to cancel Rape FIR

Sonipat, June 28: On Saturday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team in Haryana’s Sonipat arrested a woman sub-inspector of the Civil Lines police station red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 60,000. SI Manju had demanded Rs 1 lakh from the youth in exchange for cancelling the rape FIR. Earlier, she had taken Rs 40,000.

The youth complained about this to the ACB. On Saturday, SI Manju called the complainant to the Civil Lines police station with the money. As soon as he gave the money to SI Manju, the ACB team caught Manju. 60 thousand rupees have been recovered from her possession. The ACB team is interrogating Manju. A case has been registered against her under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

FIR transferred from Rohtak

Anti Corruption Bureau Inspector Secretary said that Naresh, a resident of Jua village, had lodged a zero FIR of rape against Ankit of Mahra village under section 376 in Rohtak. This FIR was transferred to the Civil Lines police station of Sonipat. Sub-Inspector Manju investigated the case. Then it came to light that this entire case was false.

FIR lodged due to land dispute

He said that a case was lodged against Ankit due to a land dispute. The rape case was to be cancelled. SI Manju contacted Ankit to take advantage without informing the station in charge. Manju told Ankit that his name will be removed from this case and the FIR will be cancelled, but in return, he will have to pay one lakh rupees.

Under pressure, the young man gave 40 thousand rupees 

He told that under pressure from the SI, the young man gave 40 thousand rupees. After this Manju started demanding 60 thousand rupees more. Frustrated, the young man complained to Rohtak ACB. The ACB team laid a trap and caught Manju taking 60 thousand rupees bribe in Civil Lines police station itself. Tomorrow she will be produced in the court.
