Haryana: Performance based grade system unveils for DSP and Inspectors in 14 districts

Chandigarh: The assessment form prepared to increase the efficiency of every officer and employee working in the Haryana Police and to determine the criteria of work has started yielding meaningful results.

Under the leadership of Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor, a report card for every officer and employee working in the Haryana Police has been prepared based on this assessment form. This is increasing the morale of the policemen doing good work, and other policemen are getting motivated to do good work.

In this episode, Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor visited Narnaul Police District and, in the presence of senior police officers, graded the performance of Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors, and Managing Officers.

The Director General of Police himself visited 14 districts and reviewed the performance of police officers. Additional Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar visited 9 districts (including Dabwali Police District), and Additional Director General of Police Rohtak Range K K Rao visited Charkhi Dadri District.

About nine months ago, Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor prepared and distributed an assessment proforma to assess the work done by the officers and employees working in the police department. He said that key performance indicators have been prepared by defining the work of different units of Haryana Police, such as the CIA, Crime Unit, Cyber Unit, Research Officers, Women Police Stations, SHO, and other units.

The accountability of the officer or employee has been fixed for each task. For this, they are given separate marks so that the working system of the police can be improved further.

He said that while preparing the assessment form, the responsibilities of each officer or employee have been studied closely and defined pointwise. Every police officer or employee gives himself marks while working according to the points mentioned in this form. Provision of negative marking has also been made in the assessment form for those policemen who do not work according to the prescribed standards.

In the assessment form, provision has also been made for the concerned police chief to give 10 marks separately to the policeman based on the overall assessment. Marks are given based on the policeman’s ability, honesty, and

The role of the complainant’s feedback is important.

Kapoor said that while preparing the assessment form, importance has been given to the satisfaction of the complainant. He said that feedback is taken from the complainants regarding the action taken by the police department on the complaints lodged in police stations, etc. Under this, the complainants are asked about their satisfaction with the action taken by the police department. If during this time the complainant expresses dissatisfaction with the action, then the reason is asked of him.

He said that if more than 80 percent of the complainants in the police station express satisfaction, then the concerned police station, outpost, or policeman gets 10 marks. Similarly, in the form, provision has been made to give separate marks to SHOs, outpost in-charges, and other policemen who do remarkable work regarding de-addiction campaigns, women’s safety, crime control, the satisfaction rate of complaints received in police stations, action against bullies, cybercrime control, etc.

So far, the Director General of Police has reviewed the performance of police officers and employees while visiting Faridabad, Jhajjar, Panchkula, Gurugram, Sonipat, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Hisar, Jind, Hansi, Kaithal, Panipat, Rohtak, and Narnaul police districts. Similarly, the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) has visited Yamunanagar, Karnal, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Dabwali, Palwal, Nuh, and Rewari districts, while the Additional Director General of Police Rohtak Range Krishna Kumar Rao reviewed their performance while visiting Charkhi Dadri district.
