Chandigarh: In a big blow from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, HC has quashed the Government’s law that provides reservation of 75% to residents of the state in private sector jobs. The court termed the law as unconstitutional and quashed it. Law providing 75% reservation in Jobs in private sector to residents of Haryana was passed by the government on January 15, 2022.
While giving the verdict, the High Court said that if this law is approved then every state will do the same and an artificial wall will be built within the country, which cannot be allowed at any cost. The court also said government cannot discriminate between the people just because they are not residents of the state.
Court gave this verdict while hearing various petitions against this legislation. The bench of judges said the legislation will become “ineffective from the date it came into force”.
