CCTVs to be installed at Ration depots, arrangements ensured for timely distribution: Minister Rajesh Nagar

Panchkula: CCTV cameras will be installed at all ration depots in Haryana. This move will reduce the thefts and complaints of non-availability of ration to a great extent. These CCTV cameras will be centralized and will be monitored regularly.

A meeting of Haryana Food and Supplies Department was held at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh today. The meeting was chaired by Minister of State Rajesh Nagar. The minister directed for the timely distribution of food items at ration depots. The minister said that ration shops will open on time throughout the month. If any complaint comes and someone is not opening the ration depot, then his license will be canceled.

Minister Rajesh Nagar, while talking to the media after the meeting, said that the common people will not be allowed to face any kind of trouble. In winter, ration depots will be open from 8 am to 12 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm. The full ration will be available at the depot.

He also added that strict action will be taken against those who are negligent in ration distribution. The government’s first priority is that the poor people should get ration on time. The minister said that the shortcomings in the ration distribution system will be removed soon and arrangements will be made for timely distribution of ration.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 32 lakh families in the state are taking advantage of the PDS scheme. At present, there are 9434 fair price shops in the state, where ration is being given to the people through automatic POS machines. The government had also recently decided to give 33 percent of fair-price shops to women.
