Chandigarh: Chandigarh Police traffic will remain closed on some roads from 8:30 am to 9:15 am tomorrow. According to the police, the road from Punjab Raj Bhavan towards Sectors 5, 6, and 7, 8 Chowk towards Sectors 4/5 and 8/9 Chowk will remain closed. From here, the road from Sector 1/3/4 Old Barricade Chowk to Bar Memorial Bougainvillea Garden Sector 3 will be closed.
According to the traffic police, this parade from Bougainvillea will come to Sector 17. From Bar Memorial Sector 3, coming back from Old Barricade Chowk, it will reach Matka Chowk on Madhya Marg, then via Sector 16/17 Light Point on Jan Marg, it will reach Parade Ground Sector 17. These roads will also be closed during this time. Chandigarh Police has advised the general public to avoid these roads at this time and use other roads.
This time, on the occasion of Independence Day in Chandigarh, Chandigarh Administrator and Punjab Governor Gulabchand Kataria will hoist the flag. This will be the first time when Kataria will participate in the Independence Day celebrations in Chandigarh. Earlier, former Chandigarh Administrator Banwari Lal Purohit used to hoist the flag. The roads that will be closed tomorrow will remain closed again on 15 August due to the Independence Day parade.
