Panipat: A young man from Panipat city of Haryana became a victim of cyber fraudsters. After seeing an online advertisement on Facebook, the young man started investing in the stock market. The fraudsters took away Rs 12 lakh 70 thousand from him in different accounts by luring him with high profits.
When he started withdrawing money, he was asked for another Rs 5 lakh. After this he came to know about the fraud committed against him. He has complained about the matter to the police. The police have registered a case on the basis of the complaint.
In the complaint given to the Cyber Thana Police, Puneet Kapoor said that he is a resident of Old Jagannath Vihar. On March 6, he saw an advertisement on Facebook about earning high profits by investing money in the online stock market. When he checked the advertisement, he was added to a WhatsApp group.
In which many people were sending messages about earning profits. When he did a personal chat on a number, an unknown person lured him into investing money and made him invest Rs 1 lakh on the first day. On the second day, he made him invest Rs 2 lakh. On the third day, he was made to deposit another 2 lakh rupees.
After this, the fraudsters made him deposit 3.71 lakh, 1.29 lakh, and 2.70 lakh rupees respectively. When he tried to withdraw his money after a few days, the unknown person asked him to deposit 5 lakh rupees more. After which he suspected that he was being cyber-cheated. The fraudsters swindled a total of 12.70 lakh rupees from him.
