The demand for electricity in Haryana may increase by 3000 MW this summer season. The demand for electricity may reach between 12000 MW to 15000 MW. Power corporations have made 5 mega plans to meet the demand for electricity for uninterrupted power supply.

Apart from long term, arrangements for additional power have also been included in these. The Union Ministry of Power has allocated 161 MW additional power in May and 193 other additional power from June to September from power plants located in North India. The demand for electricity in Haryana increases due to summer season and paddy crop.

The demand for electricity increases during the paddy planting season. Haryana is an agricultural state, so the demand for electricity increases significantly during summer and paddy planting season. This demand is mainly due to agricultural pump (AP) load as well as the increasing use of air conditioning (AC) in commercial activity.

A comprehensive plan has been made to ensure adequate power availability to meet uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming summer season and paddy season. Five mega plans have been made in addition to the existing long-term and medium-term power agreements to meet the power demand.

Paddy sowing will officially start in Haryana from June 15. There are more than 6 thousand tubewells for farming in the state. In such a situation, power consumption in the agricultural sector increases during the paddy season. Last year, the government started supplying electricity for farming during the day instead of night, keeping in mind the problems of the farmers.

This time also the government is preparing to provide the same facility to the farmers. Therefore, if the electricity department has extra power at night, it will be supplied to the industries.
