Gurugram: Directorate of Enforcement (ED), Gurugram Zonal Office has arrested Sikandar Singh Choker, S/o Dharam Singh Choker, MLA on 30.04.2024 under the provisions of Prevention of Money laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 in case of Sai Aaina Farms Pvt Ltd and others for siphoning hundreds of crore of homebuyers money related to number of projects in Gurugram.
He was apprehended from Haridwar wherein he was absconding since last 4 months. ED initiated investigation on the basis of multiple FIRs registered by Gurugram Police against Dharam Singh Choker, Sikandar Choker, Sai Aaina Farms Pvt. Ltd. and associate concerns for cheating and forgery.
Sai Aaina Farms Pvt. Ltd. had collected about Rs. 363 Crore from 1497 home buyers under the affordable housing scheme, on the promise of providing houses at Sector 68, Gurugram.
However, the said entity failed to deliver the Project and missed multiple deadlines and diverted the home buyers money to other associate concerns of Mahira Group. Sikandar Singh is the Promoter and Director / shareholder in various companies of Mahira Group.
ED investigation revealed that said entity siphoned off home buyers money by booking fake construction expenditure in group entities.
Cash generated out of the fake purchases was used for personal gains. The Directors/ Promoters also diverted home buyers money to other group entities as loans [which is outstanding for years] which was used for buying expensive luxury cars, Benami properties, expensive wedding of daughter, purchasing personal jewellery and withdrawing cash. Earlier, in this case ED had conducted searches at various linked premises on 25.07.2023 and seized various incriminating documents.
ED investigation till now has also resulted in attachment of properties worth Rs. 36.5 Crore. The Hon’ble Court had also issued the Non – Bailable / Arrest Warrants multiple times against Sikandar Singh, however Sikandar Singh remained absconded since last 4-5 months. Sikandar Singh was arrested on 30.04.2024 and subsequently produced before the Hon’ble Sessions Judge – cum – Special Judge (PMLA), Gurugram and the Hon’ble Court has granted ED custody for 05 days till 06.05.2024.
In recent order Dharam Singh Choker has also been directed by the Hon’ble Apex Court to join ED investigation. Further, Vikas Choker, brother of Sikandar Singh, another accused in the matter is still absconding. Further investigation is under progress.
