Haryana officers to be transferred soon: Election Commission directs Chief Secretary to rotate long serving officials

Chandigarh: The Election Commission has issued new orders regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana. The Election Commission has ordered the Chief Secretary of Haryana to take care of the transfer and posting of officers given the polls.

Officers posted in the home district and serving at the same place for a long time should be changed. After the letter of the Election Commission, the Chief Secretary can soon transfer officers on a large scale. This may include transfers of HCS, IPS, and IAS officers. According to the letter from the Election Commission, the election process will be completed in Haryana, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra before November 3.

It is normal for the Election Commission to issue instructions related to the transfer of officers before the assembly elections. The policy of the Commission is that officers directly involved in the conduct of elections in the state going to polls are not posted in their home districts or those places where they have been posted for a long time.

Therefore, any officer directly connected with elections will not be allowed to remain in the current district (revenue district). He will be transferred if he is posted in his home district or has completed 3 years in the said district during the last 4 years.

Similar orders were issued by the Election Commission to the Chief Secretary of Haryana even before the Lok Sabha elections. After this, Panchkula DC and Sunita Duggal’s IPS husband were transferred. Even now, many officers in Haryana are favourites of ministers or MLAs and are posted at the same place for a long time.
