Khanauri: Farmers will not march to Delhi tomorrow from Shambhu border of Haryana-Punjab. On Monday, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) convenor Sarwan Singh Pandher held a press conference at Shambhu border and said that the Delhi march has been postponed for the time being.
He said that the central government should hold a meeting before 14 February. This meeting should be held in Delhi instead of Chandigarh.
Earlier in the morning, Pandher had said that they will march to Delhi. The Center is trying to create division. The Center has invited farmers for talks in Chandigarh on February 14.
Today (January 20), the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) had announced to protest in front of residences of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs across the country including Punjab-Haryana, regarding other demands including a guarantee law on Minimum Support Price (MSP) on crops.
However, after receiving an invitation from the Centre for talks, SKM said that instead of gherao, all farmers should send a memorandum of demands to MPs through e-mail. Tractor marches will be taken out across the country on 26 January.
SKM leader Darshanpal Singh had said that an attempt would be made to send a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through MPs, so that talks with farmers can start soon.
Dallewal said – the fast will continue
Even after the central government’s proposal for talks on February 14, Dallewal has made it clear that he will not eat anything until the guarantee law on MSP is implemented. His fast will continue. However, on the request of the farmers, he has been taking medical facilities since late Saturday night. Doctors have administered glucose to him.
Meanwhile, Dr. Swayam Singh, who is part of the team of doctors monitoring Dallewal, says that it is difficult for him (Dallewal) to survive on medical aid alone till February 14. Today is the 56th day of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s fast unto death.
