Fatehabad police bust opium smuggling ring: 2 arrestes with drugs, values at Rs 20 lakh

Fatehabad: Fatehabad police of Haryana have seized opium worth Rs 20 lakh. Two accused have been arrested. The arrested accused have been identified as Rish, a resident of Bhattu Kalan, and Ravi Kumar, a resident of Mehuwala. A case has been registered against both the accused under drug smuggling.

DSP Jaipal Singh said that the patrol team led by anti-vehicle theft in-charge Richpal Surtia had received information about a large quantity of opium waste coming from Rajasthan to Fatehabad from Hisar. Based on the information, a truck was stopped at a blockade near Hisar Road Police Line, Fatehabad.

When two people stopped the truck and saw the police and started running, the police surrounded them and arrested both of them. Both identified themselves as Rish, a resident of Bhattu Kalan, and Ravi Kumar, a resident of Mehuwala. The police registered a case and arrested them.

When the truck was searched, a total of 3 quintals, 77 kg, and 980 grams of stolen opium were found in 16 sacks of talc powder. The police confiscated it.
