A tragic road accident took place near the village Uchana on the National Highway in Karnal district on Thursday morning. A luxury bus of a private company going from Gurugram to Chandigarh collided with a canter near Jhilmil Dhaba. In this horrific collision, the bus driver died on the spot, while many passengers were injured.
The injured were immediately admitted to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, where they are undergoing treatment. The accident happened around 5 am, when a large number of passengers were on the bus.
According to the police, the collision was so strong that the front part of the bus crashed into the canter. The passengers were taken out by breaking the glass of the bus. With the help of a hydra machine, the bus was separated from the canter, then the body of the driver could be taken out. The deceased driver has not been identified yet, and the body has been kept in the mortuary of Karnal Civil Hospital for postmortem. Sadar police station has reached the spot and started investigation.
Initial investigation has revealed that the canter was standing on the highway, due to which this accident happened. Police are investigating the nearby CCTV footage and eyewitness statements to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
After the accident, the surviving passengers were sent to Chandigarh in another bus. According to eyewitnesses, there was a lot of commotion in the bus after the collision, and the locals immediately informed the police and ambulance. The condition of the injured passengers is said to be stable, but some have suffered serious injuries.
Sadar police station in-charge said that we have registered a case and the accident is being investigated.
