Haryana: EC approves new excise policy, likely to present in cabinet on May 15

Panchkula : The path has been cleared for new excise policy in Haryana for year 2024-25. The Election Commission has given approval to the Haryana Government to bring the policy.

In such a situation, the Excise and Taxation Department has started preparations. It is likely that a new excise policy will be presented in the cabinet meeting to be held on May 15.

In this regard, a marathon meeting of the department was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary of Excise Department, Devendra Kalyan. Various aspects regarding the policy were discussed in the meeting. Currently, Excise Department Commissioner IAS Ashok Meena has gone on election duty in Maharashtra. He may come to Haryana on Tuesday.

This time, due to Lok Sabha elections, there has been a delay in releasing the excise policy. The policy was last issued on May 8. Haryana Government had written a letter to the Election Commission seeking permission to bring the policy. The commission has given the green signal. The department has already taken the suggestion to form committees and now it is being finalized. The new excise policy will come into effect in the state from June 12 and will be in effect till June 11, 2025.

In the new allocation of departments, the responsibility of Excise Department lies with the Chief Minister of the state Nayab Singh Saini himself. The Chief Minister will put the final seal on the policy prepared by the officials.
