Chnadigarh: For the first time, the BJP government led by Haryana CM Nayab Saini has cancelled the gazetted holiday of Eid in the state. The government has changed the holiday of 31st March, 5 days before Eid, into a restricted holiday. Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has issued a letter regarding this.
The Chief Secretary cited in the letter that the financial year 2024-25 is closing, due to which the holiday has been cancelled. 29 and 30 March are weekends and 31 March is the last day of the financial year. This is the first time in the state that Eid holiday has been cancelled. There is about 6% Muslim population here. In which there are about 18 lakh Muslim voters.
In the Haryana Government calendar, there was a gazetted holiday
On March 31. In the calendar issued by the Haryana Government for holidays in the state, 3 gazetted holidays were shown in the month of March. These included Holi on Friday, March 14, Martyrdom Day on Sunday, March 23 and Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, March 31. Among these, there was holiday on Holi and Martyrdom, but the Eid holiday was changed from gazetted to restricted holiday.
