Drug racket busts: Rohtak NCB arrests drug smuggler in Sonipat

Rohtak: Haryana NCB Unit Rohtak arrested a drug smuggler by raiding Sonipat on Saturday. Cannabis worth lakhs of rupees has been recovered from him, which he was selling outside his house. Based on the information, the team raided and caught him red-handed. 2 kg (832 grams) of Cannabis were recovered from him.

Under the guidance of Additional Director General of Police OP Singh, head of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau (HSNCB), and the leadership of Superintendent of Police Pankhuri Kumari, a special campaign called “Nashamukt Haryana-Nasha Mukt Bharat” is being run against drug smugglers across Haryana.

By taking action, Rohtak Unit has arrested drug smuggler Santraj, a resident of village Chhataihra, Sonipat, with charas by collecting clues and registering an agreement from the Baroda police station area of Sonipat. Information was received that the accused was selling charas in front of his house. On this information, the team immediately raided. Seeing the team, the accused tried to run away, but the team chased him and caught him. He was holding a plastic pistol in his hand.

This information was given to Duty Magistrate ETO Sonipat Shiv Kumar, and he was called on the spot. When a search was conducted in his presence, Cannabis was recovered. 2 kg (832 grams) of Cannabis was recovered from him. A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at Baroda police station in Sonipat. Its cost is said to be around Rs. 4 lakh.

Information about other suppliers will be gathered through interrogation. Unit in-charge Inspector Pawan Kumar said that the accused will be presented in court and interrogated. Action will be taken against other suppliers as well after finding out about them.

No person involved in drug smuggling or illegal business will be spared. Along with this, he appealed to the general public that if they see drugs being sold anywhere, then, without any worry, inform Haryana NCB on the toll-free number 9050891508. So that the drug smugglers can be sent behind bars. Immediate action will be taken on the information given, and under no circumstances will the name of the informant be revealed.
