Chandigarh: Now, strict action will be taken against those who put up posters, banners and hoardings on flyovers, other than government and private buildings in Haryana’s cities. In the first phase, the Urban Local Bodies Department will run a mega drive in the cities. Not only this, the government will also make changes in the law related to it. Strict rules will be made in the law. Bodies Minister Vipul Goyal hinted at introducing a revised bill in the next assembly session.

He was speaking on the attention motion given by Rohtak MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra, Jhajjar MLA Geeta Bhukkal and Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed in the assembly on Tuesday. Vipul Goyal said that the department conducted 3022 drives in the last two months and removed posters, banners and skitters etc. He admitted that due to these, the beauty of the cities is getting spoiled. He also said that posters and stickers are being put up by all political parties as well as social organizations.

Goyal said that during 2023-24 and 2024-25, the department has earned revenue of Rs 131 crore from government sites and more than Rs 141 crore from private sites. He admitted that after the change in the law, the revenue will also increase and the beauty of the cities can also be enhanced. The civic department will mark places for hoardings, posters and banners etc. in all cities. The accountability of the concerned officers will also be fixed for this.

BB Batra said that apart from government and private buildings, no place has been left including parks, flyovers, electricity poles, where posters, stickers and hoardings are not put up. He demanded that the printer should be forced to write his name and mobile number on the posters and stickers. In case of doing so, information about those who put up the posters can be found. The cabinet minister agreed to this.
