Haryana Roadways employees announce hunger strike on June 26

Rohtak: Haryana Transport Employees Union State President Amit Mehrana and State General Secretary Krishna Nohra issued a joint statement saying that Haryana Roadways employees will go on a symbolic hunger strike from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 26 in protest against the non-implementation of demands.

The government and the senior officials of the department neither implement the demands agreed in the talks with the union nor talk about the interests of government employees. He said that in 2018, despite the opposition of the employees to the kilometer scheme policy, kilometer scheme buses were included in the fleet of roadways, showing dictatorship, which is a loss-making deal today, and now the government again wants to bring kilometer scheme buses into the fleet of roadways.

The drivers of kilometer buses drive the buses as per their wishes without caring about the government conductor. After that, in 2018, the overtime of roadway drivers and conductors was stopped, which was an introduction to dictatorship.

He said that in 2023, the employees were transferred here and there on the pretext of being online. Still, instead of implementing the demands, the officers are creating problems for the drivers and conductors. They are issuing anti-employee orders. Employee leaders said that on June 23, 2023, the state government had agreed to many demands of the roadway employees. This circular was assured to be issued. The accepted demands are not being implemented.

The joint front will give a memorandum against the government by hunger strike from 10 to 4 pm on June 26 at the offices of all the general managers against the dictatorship of the Director General, Additional Transport Secretary, and all the general managers. If the government does not implement the demands accepted on June 23, 2023, and does not withdraw the issued orders, then on July 14, the residence of the Transport Minister in Ambala will be surrounded, and the upcoming big movement will be announced.
