The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ordered the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) to stop issuing appointment letters of TGT (Trained Graduate Teachers). The division bench of Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya, taking a tough stand on the functioning of the commission, has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000. Earlier, this fine was imposed on the secretary of the commission and he was asked to pay it from his pocket but later the secretary was relieved from it.

The commission started the recruitment process for various subjects of TGT in Haryana a year ago. After taking the examination, the commission issued the answer key and asked for objections. Candidates filed objections within the stipulated time but the commission uploaded the final answer key only after declaring the result.

After this, some candidates approached the High Court raising questions on the final answer key. When the High Court asked the commission for the original report of the settlement of objections, only photocopy copies were presented. Angered by this, the division bench imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the secretary of the commission. Later, the secretary told the court that the original record was with the chairman. On this, the secretary was relieved and the commission has been directed to deposit this amount within a week.

The court has also clarified that no new appointment will be made on the basis of the result declared on 27 July 2024. Instructions have also been given to file a detailed reply on the original report of the subject experts. In the reply, it has to be clarified how the experts were appointed, what was their qualification and on what basis the objections were settled. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 16 May 2025.
