At polling stations Inspection done through “Webcasts”

Haryana: In Gurugram under the sixth phase of Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, the elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere in the district on Saturday, May 25. All 1333 polling stations in the district were monitored with CCTV cameras. For webcasting of the polling stations, a special control room was made in the conference hall located at the Mini Secretariat. 45 screens were shown on Saturday from 7 am till the completion of the voting process. A dedicated team was monitoring the moment-to-moment activities and giving updates to the district administration. During this time, Election Observer of Gurgaon Lok Sabha Dr. Dilraj Kaur also inspected and observed the monitoring being done.

District Election Officer Nishant Kumar Yadav said that this control room was created under the instructions of the Election Commission with the aim of conducting elections in the district in a transparent and fear-free environment. Critical polling centers were also monitored with drones. He said that cameras were installed at 250 polling stations of Pataudi assembly constituency of Gurugram district, 261 of Sohna, 455 of Badshahpur and 367 of Gurgaon. The District Election Officer said that voting is a confidential process and it is the constitutional right of every citizen.

The location of the CCTV cameras was kept in such a way that the voter was not seen voting in the voting compartment. He told that a special security plan had also been prepared for critical booths in the district. As a result, no information was received about any disruption in the elections from anywhere in the district. The District Election Officer said that based on the updates received through webcasting, long queues of voters were visible at the booths. The polling staff there was also directed to increase the voting speed.
