2 arrests with drugs worth Rs 5 lakh in Palwal

Palwal: In Haryana’s Palwal, police arrested two drug smugglers by setting up a check post near the Karman border and recovered 48 kg and 800 grams of narcotic substances (ganja) from their possession. Its value is said to be around Rs 5 lakh. Hodal police station has registered a case against both drug smugglers under various sections, presented them in court, and took them on remand for interrogation.

Hodal police station in-charge Mohammad Ilyas said that the police received information from an informant that two drug smugglers were coming from the Bihar border of Nepal in a Hyundai Verna car with drug to sell it in Haryana. As soon as the information was received, the police set up a checkpoint near the Karman border on National Highway 19 and started searching for vehicles. Shortly after that, when the Verna car mentioned by the informer reached near the check post, the police signaled the driver to stop the vehicle.

According to the police, the driver increased the speed of the vehicle upon seeing the police barricade. The police showed agility and caught the vehicle a little ahead of the barricade. When the police questioned the two youths in the vehicle, they gave their names and addresses as Abhishek and Mohit Lal, residents of Dahola village in Jind district. When the police searched their vehicle, two plastic bags were recovered.

The police called the duty magistrate, DSP Hodal Kuldeep Singh, on the spot and examined the bags. When the police searched the bags recovered from the vehicle, they found them to be filled with the intoxicating substance drug. When the police team weighed the drug on an electric scale, its weight was 48 kg, or 800 grams. The police said that the value of the drug recovered from the vehicle was about five lakh rupees.
