Lawyers protest march against Proposed Tenant Act in Chandigarh

Chandigarh: Lawyers have taken out a protest march in Chandigarh. Lawyers are protesting against the Tenant Act. Due to this, work has been stalled for the last several days. Many people come to the court for the hearing of their case. But they are sent back just by telling them the new date. District Bar Council Organization President Rohit Khullar says that people are getting upset right now, but later people will be happy.

Chandigarh District Court Bar Council has appointed proxy advocates on every floor. These advocates are going to every court and requesting the court to fix a new date for hearing all the cases. For this, the Bar Council has appointed Tushar Pandey, Shabnam, and Jaspreet Kaur on the first floor.

Meenakshi and Gagandeep Singh have been appointed on the second floor. Similarly, Arun Jangra and Harpreet Singh have been appointed on the third floor and Shubham Sharma and Manoj Arora on the fourth floor.

District Bar Council Chandigarh Secretary Parminder Singh said that 19 rent controllers have been appointed in Chandigarh District Court. It takes 2 to 3 years to hear these cases.

When all these officers are replaced by an administrative officer, these cases will remain pending for 15 to 20 years. In such a situation, people will not get justice on time. They have also got the support of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Council. They will take this protest forward.
