Panipat: A case of conspiracy to overturn a train by placing an iron angle on the railway track came to light on Wednesday evening. However, the loco pilot of the engine noticed this angle, which averted a major accident. The loco pilot removed the angle from the railway track and reported the matter to the station. This information reached the Government Railway Police (GRP). After this, the GRP team reached the spot and investigated from all angles. Later, on the complaint of the Railway Investigation Officer Sub Inspector, a case was registered against unknown persons under Railway Act 150. This conspiracy was hatched near the same place where about 18 years ago there was a blast in the Samjhauta Express running between India and Pakistan. Now the GRP police have started investigation in this latest case.
GRP station in-charge Sub Inspector Balwan Singh said that a written memo was received at the police station from the station master at around 6:42 am today. It was written in it that a piece of iron was found lying on the track on the DN line between the block section Panipat-Deewana. As the matter was not clear from the memo, the GRP team reached the spot. During the investigation there, it was found that an iron triangular angle was found on the track. Its length was about 20 feet. Its thickness was about 2 inches. This angle was kept on the down main line.
The loco pilot of the power engine going from Panipat to Deewana station noticed this angle. The engine was stopped due to low speed. After this, the pilot picked up that angle and kept it on the side.
According to the police station in-charge Balwan, this angle was kept on both tracks. The intention behind this was to damage the train. After this, a case has been registered against the unknown accused. Also, all the CCTV cameras installed nearby are being scanned.
