Woman faces eviction over dowry demand, forced to pay Rs 20lac in Bhiwani

Bhiwani: A married woman from Bhiwani, Haryana, has alleged that she was harassed for not giving Rs 20 lakh cash to her in-laws to buy a flat.

She alleged that she was beaten up and thrown out of the house for not fulfilling the dowry demand. Police have registered a case on the complaint of the married woman.

A married woman resident of Tosham, Bhiwani, told me that she was married on June 26, 2023, to Vikas, a resident of Badsi Hall Secunderabad, Ved Vihar, Tirumala Giri Secunderabad, Telangana. My father had spent around 50–55 lakh rupees on the marriage. Father had given Rs 10 lakh to my in-laws for a car and Rs 10 lakh in cash for furniture and electronics items. Rs 3,00,000 was given as kanyadaan in the marriage.

After marriage, on June 29, 2023, my husband took me to my brother-in-law’s house in Secunderabad by flight. There, her husband asked for 20 lakh rupees in cash to buy a new flat. When I refused to give it, he started harassing me. The married woman alleged that he started beating her every day. The married woman alleged that her brother-in-law did wrong things with her after seeing her alone at home.

The married woman has also made serious allegations against her father-in-law for doing such a thing. Tosham police station has registered a case on the complaint of the married woman.
