MP Kumari Selja expresses concern over Dallewal’s deteriorating health, urges action from govt

Chandigarh: Kumari Selja, Congress General Secretary and MP from Sirsa, expressed concern about the deteriorating health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Selja appealed to the government to take appropriate steps in this regard and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately take action to consider the farmers’ demands. Selja mentioned that Dallewal had written an open letter to the PM, raising 13 demands, including the MSP Guarantee Law, but the government was not willing to listen to the farmers.

Selja criticized the government, stating that it had turned the borders of Punjab and Haryana into a replica of the India-Pakistan border. Instead of listening to the farmers, the government was using water cannons and tear gas on them. She also pointed out that the same government had promised to implement MSP to end the farmers’ protests, but it had now forgotten that promise.

Selja further accused the BJP government of prioritizing the interests of capitalists over farmers and not addressing the concerns of farmers. She emphasized that the Congress party has been fighting for farmers’ rights, both on the streets and in the legislature, and demanded the implementation of the MSP law.

Selja also condemned the Haryana government’s brutal actions against farmers, including lathi charges and the use of water cannons and tear gas in the cold weather. She argued that farmers were not criminals and had not caused any harm to public property, yet the government subjected them to brutal force.
