New building of Haryana Vidhan Sabha to be built soon, Union Ministry of Environment gives approval

Chandigarh: The way has been paved for the construction of the new building of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh. The Union Ministry of Environment has approved the land for the construction of the Legislative Assembly building in Chandigarh. Let it be known that the former Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha Gyan Chand Gupta started efforts to build a new building of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh.

The Chandigarh administration had agreed to the proposal to give land to Haryana for constructing the Vidhan Sabha building. But it was put on hold citing environment and forest clearance. After this, the Haryana government sent a proposal to the Union Ministry of Environment for changes.

On this, the central government has now issued a notification. According to the administration, the land given to Haryana from the Panchkula area is adjacent to the 123 acres of IT Park in Chandigarh.

At the NZC meeting in Jaipur in July 2022, Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved the proposal to allot land in Chandigarh for the building of the new Vidhan Sabha. For the new assembly, Chandigarh is giving 10 acres of land near the road leading from the railway station to IT Park.
