PGI Rohtak on alert after advisory regarding HMPV, 15-bed ward set up

Rohtak: PGIMS located in Rohtak is on alert mode after the advisory issued by the Central and State Health Department regarding HMPV virus. A special 15-bed ward has been set up separately for the patients suffering from HMPV virus in the state. A 4-bed ICU has also been prepared. Oxygen will also be available 24 hours on the bed. However, no case of HMPV virus has been found in Haryana so far.

According to the doctors of PGI, HMPV virus is affecting children and the elderly more. If someone has cough, fever, sore throat, then these can be its initial symptoms. At the same time, tests for HMPV virus will also be done for free in Rohtak PGI. Also, a 15-bed ward has been made for isolation of HMPV virus patients. A four-bed ICU has also been made for more serious patients. So that the serious patient can be admitted to the ICU and treated.

PGI Director Dr. Suresh Kumar Singal said that after the order received from the government, strong arrangements have been made for the treatment of patients coming to Rohtak PGIMS for this virus. Initially, a nodal officer has also been appointed for HMPV virus in PGI.

He said that this is not a new virus, its effect was seen in 2005 as well. People do not need to panic much about this virus. The risk of death from this virus is low, yet people need to be careful.
