In Hisar, BJP has tried to woo Punjabis by giving ticket to Praveen Popli. There are about 50 thousand Punjabi voters in Hisar. MLA Savitri Jindal and former minister Kamal Gupta are from Vaishya community. The Chief Minister himself is from Saini community.
In such a situation, BJP has given ticket in Hisar under the formula of social engineering. Current MLA Savitri Jindal was trying former mayor Shakuntala Rajliwala for the post of mayor in Hisar. But BJP has rejected Savitri Jindal’s recommendation and has given a ticket to a worker of the organization itself.
Praveen Popli’s family has been associated with RSS. Father Ramswaroop Popli was a volunteer of the Sangh. Praveen Popli himself has been associated with BJP for a long time. He has been fully active in the organization since 2005.
