Haryana: Posts ranging from Medical Officer to Specialist are lying vacant in the government hospitals of Fatehabad. In the last two years, 12 doctors have been absent from duty without informing. Not only this, in just two years, seven doctors have resigned from their jobs, but these have not been accepted. His name is still in the records. As per the records of the Health Department, 173 posts of government doctors are sanctioned in the district and 105 are working. The main reason behind doctors being absent and leaving the job is considered to be heavy workload. Apart from this, doctors are being entangled in legal work. The package of doctors is also less compared to the private sector.
According to the report received from the Health Department, five doctors are absent from the Civil Hospital of Fatehabad. A doctor has resigned. Three doctors are absent from the year 2022 and two from the year 2023. Five doctors have resigned from their jobs in Tohana. Apart from this, 4 are absent. One doctor each is absent from CHC Bhattukalan, Indachhui and Pirthala. A doctor in Bhuna has resigned. A doctor has gone to PHC MP Rohi to do a PG course without NOC.
Civil Hospital Fatehabad does not have physicians, ortho surgeons and even general surgeons. Due to this, patients have to go to either private hospitals or Agroha Medical. The posts of Ortho Surgeon and General Surgeon are vacant for about three years.
The health department conducts recruitment under NHM to fill the posts of specialists. Under NHM, the department is offering a salary package of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per month to a specialist, while the starting salary of a permanent doctor starts from Rs 70 to 80 thousand per month.
Apart from this, there is legal responsibility and workload is also high, whereas in private sector the salary package is also good. The burden of paper work also remains less. The government should increase the salary package of doctors and reduce the work load. -Dr. Bharat Saharan, District Head, Haryana Civil Medical Association.
