Rohtak: A case of cyber fraud has come to light in Rohtak in the name of activating a credit card from a person. He received a call and the other person asked him to activate the credit card, and also threatened him with a fine if he did not do so. A link was sent to the victim’s WhatsApp. When he filled in the credit card details on the link, money was deducted from his account. He was cheated of a total of 91 thousand 70 rupees.
Sonu, a resident of Rishi Nagar Basant Vihar on Ladhot Road in Rohtak, lodged a complaint of cyber fraud at the Old Sabzi Mandi police station. In the complaint he told that on December 23, he received a call from an unknown person on his phone. The caller said that he had not activated his credit card. If it is not activated today, a fine will be imposed. After this, a link was sent on WhatsApp to activate the credit card.
He entered the credit card details by clicking on that link. After this, Rs 41,070 was deducted from his credit card. He complained about this on the cyber helpline. The next day, on 24 December, 50 thousand rupees were deducted from his second credit card again.
Cyber fraud of 91070 rupees has been done from both his credit cards. The victim has complained about the matter to the police. On the basis of the complaint, the police have started action by registering a case against the unknown person.
