Tanker collides with trailer in Panipat: one dead, other seriously injured

Panipat: In Samalkha, Panipat, the tanker went out of control due to the driver dozing off and after breaking the divider, it reached the other side and collided with the trailer. Due to this, the trailer driver died. While the tanker driver is seriously injured.

The deceased has been identified as Surjeet resident of Punjab. Traffic in-charge Manoj Kumar said that the accident took place on the flyover in front of General Hospital Samalkha on National Highway-44 at around 3:28 am today. The empty oil tanker was going from Delhi to Panipat.

He said that the canter driver dozed off and went out of control on the flyover and after breaking the divider, it reached the other side where it collided with the tractor-loaded trailer coming from Delhi.

The collision was so severe that the trailer and the truck hung in the air above the flyover. In the accident, trailer driver Surjeet Singh (38 years), resident of Punjab, died. The oil tanker driver was seriously injured.

The police sent the injured to General Hospital Samalkha. The doctors referred the driver to Panipat Government Hospital after examination due to his critical condition. The body of the deceased was kept in the Panipat mortuary. Where after postmortem, the body will be handed over to the family members.
