Karnal: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has declared two government universities in Haryana as defaulters. It include Maharana Pratap Horticulture University of Karnal and Sports University of Haryana Rai Sonipat. Both of these universities have been declared defaults for not appointing the ombudsman. At the same time, the Registrar of Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, Karnal, called the list released by UGC fake and said that the ombudsman appointment was made at our university in December 2022.
At the same time, according to UCG, this directive has been issued under the Student Grievance Redressal Regulations, 2023. These universities still need to appoint an ombudsman, due to which they have been declared defaulters. This directive is until June 1, 2024, which includes many major universities. The UGC has issued instructions to these universities to appoint an ombudsman.
UGC has declared 157 universities across the country as defaulters. It includes 108 government universities, 47 private universities, and two deemed universities.

The registrar of Maharana Pratap Horticulture University, Surendra Pal Saini, said that the list released by UGC is fake.And whereas in our university, Dr. Uma Prajapati has been appointed to the post of Lokpal as of December 2022.
