New Delhi: Continuous heavy rains in many parts of the country have triggered floods and landslides. At least 18 people have been reported dead in rain-related incidents in the last 48 hours, while life has been disrupted in many areas.
Due to heavy rains, river levels have risen, flooding many roads. Landslides have also blocked roads in some areas.
Rainfall impacts several states
The impact of rain and floods is being felt in various states. Authorities and rescue teams are working to evacuate people in affected areas.
Heavy rains have affected 13 districts in Odisha. According to the state government, more than 70,000 people have been evacuated from low-lying areas, while hundreds of relief camps have been set up.
Relief and rescue operations continue
The administration is carrying out relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas. Normal movement has been disrupted in many areas due to waterlogging and overflowing rivers.
In light of the weather department’s warnings, local administrations are being instructed to remain vigilant in vulnerable areas and evacuate people to safety.
