A father and son riding an Activa were seriously injured in a road accident at Rama Mandi Chowk in Jalandhar at 11 p.m. The accident occurred when a Swift car headed for Phagwara collided with an Activa with such force that the two vehicles were dragged for several meters.
According to reports, the injured father, identified as Anil, was traveling with his son on an Activa from Rama Mandi to Jalandhar Cantt. Meanwhile, the driver of a Swift car traveling from Amritsar Airport to Phagwara fell asleep and collided with an Activa.
The impact was so severe that the car dragged the Activa from Rama Mandi Chowk to the Cantt Railway Station. Following the accident, the Activa became trapped under the car and caught fire. As soon as the fire broke out, panic spread at the scene, and locals raised an alarm and forced the car to stop.
Treatment underway at a private hospital in Rama Mandi
The passengers in the car fled the scene, while people managed to apprehend the driver. The arrested driver stated that he was a mechanic and contractor. One of his associates had arrived at Amritsar Airport and was about to be dropped off at Phagwara. However, he fell asleep on the way, leading to the accident.
The injured were immediately admitted to a hospital in Rama Mandi, where their condition is reported to be critical. Police have seized both the Swift car and the Activa and launched an investigation. Statements from the injured have not yet been recorded regarding the accident.
