The winter session of the 14th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held in Tapovan from November 26th to December 5th. Tapovan will be the scene of intense debate on a number of issues during the session. This session will consist of a total of eight sittings. This is the first winter session to last eight days, compared to the previous seven.
The winter session began at 11:00 am sharp with the national anthem. On Constitution Day, the Preamble to the Constitution was read in the Assembly. The Speaker made copies of the Preamble available to all. Following this, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu introduced a condolence motion in the House for the late former MLA Babu Ram Gautam. Jairam and other MLAs delivered their statements on the motion.
No outsiders can hold press conferences inside the Assembly premises.
Pathania stated that only members of the Legislative Assembly will have the right to hold press conferences within the Assembly premises. No one else will be allowed to hold press conferences within the Assembly premises.
Anyone can hold press conferences outside the premises. November 28th and December 4th are designated days for non-official business. Legislators will ask 744 questions during the session, including 604 starred and 140 unstarred questions. During the session, 11 notices were received from members under Rule 62, 4 under Rule 63, 7 under Rule 101, 16 under Rule 130, and 1 under Rule 324.
Leader of the Opposition met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh before the House proceedings began.
Before the start of the first day’s proceedings, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh, along with Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur and BJP MLAs, paid a courtesy visit to the House and conveyed their best wishes for the session.
At the start of the session, Speaker Kuldeep Pathania welcomed the Leader of the House, the Leader of the Opposition, and all members to the House. Upon arrival at the Assembly complex in Tapovan, Dharamshala, Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania and other MLAs welcomed Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh. The Chief Minister and Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania also met.
