Himachal Civic Polls Campaign Ends, Dry Day Declared

Shimla: The election campaign for Himachal Pradesh’s civic body polls will conclude tomorrow at 3:00 PM across 51 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), including four Municipal Corporations. Once the deadline passes, all public campaigning activities such as rallies, roadshows, loudspeaker announcements, drum beating, and large gatherings will be strictly prohibited in line with the Election Commission’s guidelines. Candidates will only be allowed to continue limited door-to-door and individual voter outreach.

‘Dry Day’ Enforcement from 3 PM

A ‘Dry Day’ will come into effect from 3:00 PM tomorrow as part of the election regulations. During this period, liquor shops, beer bars and establishments serving alcohol will remain closed until voting concludes. The Excise Department has been directed to ensure strict enforcement and take action against any violation involving the sale or distribution of alcohol during the restricted period.

Voting on May 17 Across 51 ULBs

Voting will be held on May 17 from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM across all urban local bodies (ULB) in the state. The polling will decide the fate of candidates contesting in municipal councils, nagar panchayats, and municipal corporations. Authorities have urged voters to participate in large numbers while maintaining order and following election guidelines.

Counting Schedule and Result Declaration

Counting of votes will begin immediately after polling in most ULBs, with results expected the same day. However, for the four Municipal Corporations Solan, Mandi, Dharamshala and Palampur the counting process will be conducted separately and results will be declared later on May 31.
