After a long wait, a fresh consignment of urea fertilizer has finally arrived in the state. Approximately 2,790 tonnes of urea have been released for the state, raising hopes of significant relief for farmers. Farmers had been waiting a long time for the fertilizer, which is needed for agricultural activities as well as for application in vegetable crops and orchards. According to reports, a total of 61,380 bags of urea have been allocated across various districts of the state. The consignment has been unloaded at two locations, from where it is being distributed to different districts.
It is reported that 1,395 tonnes of urea were unloaded in Hoshiarpur; from there, the fertilizer will be sent to the districts of Una, Kangra, Hamirpur, Chamba, and Mandi. Meanwhile, another 1,395 tonnes arrived in Chandigarh, from where supplies will be distributed to the districts of Shimla, Lahaul-Spiti, Bilaspur, Solan, Kullu, and Sirmaur.
According to Dr. Prem Thakur, Deputy Director of the District Agriculture Department, the fertilizer will be made available through relevant cooperative societies and sales centers to ensure farmers receive it on time. He has urged farmers to purchase only the quantity they need and to disregard any rumors.
400 Tonnes of Urea Released for Una
400 tonnes of urea fertilizer have been sent to the Una district. The arrival of this consignment will bring considerable relief to the district’s farmers and horticulturists. Farmers had been facing difficulties due to a fertilizer shortage for some time, with many having to endure long waits to obtain it.
