The nationwide strike on Thursday against the central government’s sale of public sector undertakings and the new labor code is also impacting Himachal Pradesh. A protest demonstration is being held in the capital, Shimla, under the banner of CITU. A rally will be held from the Panchayat Bhawan, Old Bus Stand, through the market, to the CTO.
Under the CITU banner, various employee organizations united in MC Park, Una, to protest against the anti-employee policies and raise strong slogans against the central government. All organizations unitedly called on the central government to withdraw the anti-employee decision.
Bilaspur: Midday Meal Workers Begin Protest at the District Headquarters
The Midday Meal Workers Union, affiliated with AITUC, has launched a protest against the policies of the central and state governments. Workers have begun gathering at the Laxmi Narayan Temple complex at the union’s call, and a protest will commence shortly.
The union has made it clear that if their demands are not met, they will intensify their agitation. State President Kamlesh Thakur said that midday meal workers, who have been working for years on very low honorariums, are being consistently ignored.
There was no provision for honorarium increase in the recent budget, and no concrete policy was presented for regularization.
