Himachal government to cancels registration of 15 year old vehicles

Shimla: 15-year-old vehicles will soon have to be removed from the roads in Himachal Pradesh. For this, the process of building scrap centers has been started in all 12 districts. The Transport Department has called for tenders to open scrap centers. Under this, about 70 applicants have filled out tenders for scrap centers.

In the next few days, the Transport Department will complete the tender process and start the work of building them. On the instructions of the Center, more than 200 government buses have already been removed from the roads. After the scrap center is built, 15-year-old private vehicles will also have to be replaced. A scrap policy has also been prepared for this.

The Himachal government will give a 25 percent discount in registration fees on purchasing a new vehicle to those who scrap non-commercial vehicles. A 15 percent discount will be given on scrapping commercial vehicles. Its purpose is to encourage more and more people to scrap old vehicles.

No spare part of a scrapped vehicle will be reused. When a vehicle is scrapped, its complete record will have to be kept. Currently, spare parts from old vehicles are reused. But under the scrap policy, this will not be allowed now.

Himachal Pradesh’s transport department has recently organized a workshop to open scrap centers. In this, people interested in opening scrap centers were informed about the government’s scrap policy. Its terms and conditions were explained.

Himachal Transport Department Director DC Negi said scrap centers will be opened in all the district headquarters of the state. Tenders have been invited for this. The work of evaluating them is going on. Soon, the work of opening scrap centers will be assigned.
