3 teams of vigilance reached Theog to investigate the water scam

Shimla: Vigilance has formed 3 teams to investigate the Theog drinking water scam of Shimla district, which are visiting different areas of Theog from 9 am on Saturday and questioning those people to whom the Jal Shakti Department had claimed to give water in the months of May-June.

The three teams of vigilance are also recording the statements of those people who were given water. During this, people are being asked how many times in a month and how much water they were given. During this, the field staff of the Jal Shakti Department is also present. Records are being verified on the identification of the field staff.

The vigilance team is going to the areas of Theog, Matyana, Koti and Fagu till evening and tallying the records. During this, evidence is being collected. On the basis of these evidence, an FIR can be lodged soon, because the government has suspended 10 officers only after irregularities were found in the initial investigation.

SIU has questioned suspended officers, field staff and contractors

Earlier, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Vigilance has questioned the suspended officers of the Jal Shakti Department, field staff, more than 25 drivers and vehicle owners and 4 contractors in the last four-five days. Vigilance has also started investigating the bank accounts of the contractors. It is believed that the officers and leaders whose accounts have been transferred from the contractors’ bank accounts can also be included in the vigilance investigation.

Questions are also being raised on the quality of water

The vigilance investigation so far has also revealed that the water that the contractors had to supply was to be filled from Lelupul along with Sainj. But many contractors did not fill water from Lelupul and filled water from nearby drains and supplied it. This has also raised questions about the quality of water.

He said that Jal Shakti Department has shown transportation of water in bikes, Honda City, Alto and vehicles of Director Horticulture. Drinking water supply was shown by tankers in many villages where there is no road facility.
