Shimla: Police seized illegal English liquor worth 30 lakhs in Mandi, Himachal. Sundarnagar police recovered liquor from a truck during a blockade on the four-lane near Chamukha in the early hours of Saturday. Police had received information that illegal liquor was being transported from Bilaspur to Mandi and Kullu. On this, police set up a blockade at Chamukha at 3 am.
A truck coming from Bilaspur was stopped and searched. 350 boxes of liquor of various English brands were found in the cargo bed of the truck. When the truck driver Sunil Kumar (43) was asked for the liquor permit and license, he could not produce it. The police arrested the driver. Sunil is a resident of Malthed Post Office Ratti Tehsil Balh. The police have seized the liquor and the truck.
DSP Bharat Bhushan said that an FIR has been registered in the case. Investigation is ongoing. The recovered liquor was loaded from Kothipura in Bilaspur. It was to be supplied to different places in Mandi and Kullu districts.
