Shimla: More than 500 outsourced employees will be on strike today in Himachal’s largest hospital IGMC Shimla. This will affect health services. 151 doctors are already on a month’s leave. Now outsourced employees have also gone on strike.
The IGMC administration has terminated the services of 132 outsourced employees from January 1, 2025. This has also angered other employees of IGMC. They have decided to go on an indefinite strike. The labor organization CITU is also supporting them.
Referred and serious patients from all over the state reach IGMC Shimla for treatment. Here 3200 to 3500 patients get treatment every day. In such a situation, health services will be affected due to the strike of outsourced workers. Patients will face problems. Even cleaning has not been done in the hospital today.
Outsourced workers are angry with the attitude of the IGMC administration and the government. Nisha, the vice president of Safai Karamchari Union, said that she has received a notice of termination of services through the supervisor. Now her livelihood has been snatched away. She said that many of those providing services on outsourcing are widows.
IGMC Workers Union official Virendra said, other employees of IGMC are also standing with the outsourced workers who have been fired. They have also gone on strike from today. He said that more than 500 outsourced employees will go on strike today.
