Tension escalates in Himachal Pradesh amid controversy over cattle slaughter

Kullu: The atmosphere became tense after the news of cattle slaughter in Mahun village of Gadsa in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Seeing this, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kullu himself reached the spot and pacified the villagers.

The police have arrested six accused for allegedly killing the cattle and started further action. After this incident, the police called the forensic team from Mandi to the spot so that evidence could be collected.

It is being told that the cattle killers are residents of Jammu and Kashmir, and they work as labourers in the area. They live in a rented house in the village.

Sujan Singh Pal of Mahun village gave a written complaint to the police, in which he told them that six people working as labourers from Jammu and Kashmir, Shakeel Ahmed, Khadan Hussain, Muhammad Aslam, Asif Hussain, Khadim Hussain, and Arif Hussain, live in his under-construction house. On Sunday night around 10.30 pm, he heard the sound of something being cut in the house. But due to fear, he could not go to the workers’ room.

When he went to the room yesterday, i.e., on Monday), he found a piece of meat there. By then all the workers had left the room and fled. He told me that a cow and a calf were seen roaming in the area for a few days. But this morning the calf was not seen with the cow. This made him suspicious of the workers, and he complained to the police.

Seeing the seriousness of the matter, SP Kullu Dr. Karthikeyan Gokulchandran and DSP Headquarters also reached the spot. During this, the SP pacified the angry villagers regarding the matter and assured appropriate action against those who carried out the incident. SP Kullu Dr. Karthikeyan Gokulchandran said that a case has been registered at the Bhuntar police station regarding this.
