Big cyber fraud in Himachal: State cooperative bank server hacked using customer’s mobile, Rs 11.55 crore withdrawn

Cyber ​​fraudsters hacked the server of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank and withdrew Rs 11.55 crore. The fraudsters carried out this fraud by hacking the mobile phone of an account holder of the bank. This amount was transferred to 20 different accounts. As soon as the information was received, the bank management lodged a complaint in the Sadar police station of Shimla. The police have registered a zero FIR in this regard and transferred the case to the Cyber ​​Police Station Shimla.

According to the information, the fraudsters carried out this entire incident by cyber attack on 11 and 12 May. The fraudsters hacked the mobile of a customer of Hatli branch of Chamba and entered the mobile application Him Paisa and carried out this fraud by hacking its server. Due to holiday, the report to be received by the bank from RBI on 13 May did not come. Due to this, no one got a clue of the fraud that day. After the RBI report came on 14 May, the bank management came to know about the fraud. This created panic in the management.

The amount was transferred to 20 different accounts by cyber attackers. The management immediately informed the concerned authority. According to the bank, the amount transferred to 20 different accounts by cyber attack has been put on hold. On behalf of the bank, the Chief Information Security Officer gave a written complaint to the Sadar police station. The police has transferred the case to cybercrime.

The cyber crime team along with the CERT-In team will investigate the matter. CERT-In is also known as the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team. It is the national nodal agency responsible for managing and dealing with such incidents in India. DIG Cyber ​​Crime Mohit Chawla said that the case of fraud by hacking the server of the State Cooperative Bank has been transferred from the Sadar police station. Every aspect is being investigated seriously. The bank management has also informed CERT-In about the matter.

On Saturday, CERT-In will reach Shimla from Delhi and reach the data center of the bank. Here the team of experts will investigate thoroughly about the breach made by the fraudsters in the bank. Also, an investigation will be conducted to find out how the entire incident was carried out by hacking the Him Paisa app. Appropriate steps will be taken to ensure that such cyber attacks do not happen again in the bank in future.
