Authorities evacuates 1800 stranded vehicles in Himachal after heavy snowfall

The weather has changed in Himachal Pradesh. Dense clouds have been looming over most parts of the state, including Shimla, since morning. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be good rain and snowfall in the mountains in the next 48 hours.

Especially today, rain is expected in low and medium altitude areas and snowfall in high altitude areas. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts. Clouds may rain at some places tomorrow as well. Snowfall is possible especially on high mountains. The weather will remain clear for the next three days from January 13.

Got relief from fog today

After the change in weather, the people of the plains have got relief from dense fog for the next three days. Dense fog has been troubling people in the state for the last four days. Especially in many areas of Baddi, Mandi, Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Una districts, dense fog was falling. After the change in weather, relief will be received from this.

Cold increased in plains

Before the rain and snowfall on the high mountains, the cold has increased in the plains. Due to this, the temperature of the plains has also dropped and the plains have become colder than Shimla.

The minimum temperature of Shimla was recorded at 6.8 degrees, while Sundarnagar in Mandi was 1.5 degrees, the state’s hottest city Una was 0.5 degrees, Kangra was 4.2 degrees, Mandi was 3.1 degrees, Bilaspur was 5.1 degrees and Hamirpur’s minimum temperature was 2.3 degrees. On the other hand, Kufri, which is counted among the coldest places, has a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees.
