Shimla: Western disturbance is getting active in Himachal Pradesh today. Due to this, there is a possibility of rain in the mountains for the next three-four days.
Most areas of the state may get relief on 19 and 20 June. Rain is forecast at some places today as well. This will give relief to the people of the state from the scorching heat.
According to the Meteorological Department, the sky will remain cloudy on 21 June as well. The temperature in most cities of the state is still 9 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
The highest increase of 8.6 degrees was recorded in Nahan’s temperature as compared to normal. Due to this, the temperature of Nahan has reached 40 degrees Celsius, which is the highest in the last 29 years.
For the first time, the temperature of 11 cities crossed 40 degrees simultaneously
Due to the extreme increase in temperature in the mountains, people are in distress and it has become difficult to get out of the houses. The temperature of 11 cities of the state has reached 40 degrees or more. This is the first time that the temperature has crossed 40 degrees in so many cities of the state.
Heatwave alert in 5 districts even today
Of course, there is a forecast of rain. But for today also, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heatwave in 5 districts. This alert was given to Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Mandi and Sirmaur districts. Yellow alert of heatwave has been given in some places of Kangra, Kullu, Solan and Shimla.
Advisory of Meteorological Department
In view of the heatwave alert, the Meteorological Department has advised the people of the state to be cautious. People have been asked not to go out of their homes especially during the day and to take precautions in eating and drinking.
What precautions should be taken to avoid heatwave?
Hydration: Due to the increase in temperature, there is a loss of water from the body. Therefore, it is important to drink enough water.
Spatial sun protection: If possible, wear a woolen umbrella or cap to avoid the sun and reduce the time spent outside in the sun.
Cold protection: Temperatures can drop at night, so make sure you protect yourself from extreme temperatures efficiently at night.
Food: Eat enough nutritious food during a heatwave.
Recognize the signs early: Recognize the signs of extreme heat and seek medical help if you or someone else suffers from it.
