CM Sukhu on Kinnaur Visit to review 450 MW project, Launch sports stadium

Shimla, June 9: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will be on a two-day visit to Kinnaur district from today. During this, Chief Minister Sukhu will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of many projects in the tribal district. CM Sukhu will reach the Army Helipad Choling at 11:15 am.

After this, the CM will inspect the 450 MW power project in Kadcham. He will inspect the construction activities going on at the barrage site Pawari and will establish direct communication with the engineers and labourers working there.

Target to start the project by December 2026

The government has set a target to start production from this project by December next year at any cost. The 450 MW Shongtong-Karcham Hydroelectric Project, owned by the state government, is a run-of-river project located in Kinnaur district. It is being constructed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited.

Due to the delay in the construction work of the project, Chief Minister Sukhu himself is monitoring it. Earlier, CM Sukhu himself had visited the project site once and inspected the construction work.

Will lay the foundation stone of the sports stadium

In the afternoon, the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone of the assembly hall at the District Education and Training Institute, Rekong Peo and the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Stadium to be built in Kalpa. After this, he will inaugurate the Youth Hostel Kalpa. In the afternoon at 4:30 pm, he will meet the beneficiaries of the Forest Rights Act-2006 at the Ice Skating Rink Kalpa and distribute land leases.

CM Sukhu will visit Kinnaur Shipki Law tomorrow. He will inaugurate border tourism activities here. During this, local MLA and Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi will also be present.
