CM Sukhu to hold cabinet meeting today; Budget session date to be discussed

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will hold a cabinet meeting in the secretariat today. The date of the budget session will be decided in this meeting. The Governor’s budget speech may also be discussed in the cabinet and it will be finalized.

The budget session of Himachal is expected from the first or second week of March. The cabinet will give its final approval on it today. Apart from this, other important issues will also be discussed in the cabinet meeting.

There may also be a discussion on the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) in the cabinet. Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh has hinted at this in a conversation with the media four days ago. Congress has restored the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) as soon as it formed the government in the state.

Center is putting pressure to implement UPS

Now the central government is repeatedly pressuring the state to implement UPS. But the state employees are opposing UPS. This has put the Congress government in a dilemma. If the state government does not implement UPS, then the state will not get the additional facility of Rs 1600 crore loan, which has been taken away after the restoration of OPS in the state.

Discussion on outsourced recruitment is also possible

There can also be a discussion about outsourced recruitment in the cabinet, because earlier the High Court had banned outsourced recruitment. But the state government has got relief from the Supreme Court. In today’s meeting, the government can also take a decision regarding recruitment in various departments.

Less chance of education department’s agenda being implemented

Due to the foreign tour of Education Minister Rohit Thakur, the agenda related to the Education Department will not be placed in today’s meeting.

Let us tell you that a cabinet meeting was also scheduled on 13 February. But then the meeting was postponed due to the health of the Chief Minister, the private program of the Deputy CM at his home in Una and the foreign tour of two ministers.
