Effect of less rainfall: Tea production decreases in Dharamshala, industry suffers major loss

Dharamshala: Of course, this time the rate of production of tea has increased at the national level, but tea production in Kangra has decreased. In such a situation, the Dharamshala tea industry will have to suffer a loss of about 50 lakhs this time.

A continuous decrease in production has been recorded since the Corona period. However, when the tea season started in April this year, the production was good initially and this sequence continued till the beginning of May.

After this, due to lack of rain in the months of May and June, a decrease in production was recorded. Tea production has also been affected due to lack of rain in the month of October.

It is worth noting that during the Corona period, 1 lakh 69 thousand 21 kg of tea was produced in the Dharamshala in the year 2020, 1 lakh 37 thousand 900 kg in the year 2021, one lakh 45 thousand 682 kg in the year 2022, 1 lakh 65 thousand 13 kg of tea in the year 2023. This year the industry management is expecting to produce 1 lakh 40 thousand kilograms of tea, which is 25 thousand kilograms less than last year.

Aman Pal Singh, manager of Tea Industry Dharamshala, said that the tea production season is almost over. Last year 1 lakh 65 thousand kilograms of tea was produced, but this time only 1 lakh 40 thousand kilograms of tea will be produced. The price of tea has increased in the market, but due to less production, there is a possibility of a loss of about 50 lakhs.
