Fraud in the name of fake gold brick in Himachal: Man cheated of Rs 2 lakh, two arrested

A case of cheating an elderly man of Rs 2 lakh in the name of gold brick has come to light in Himachal Pradesh. Some cunning people gave fake gold bricks to 65-year-old Nand Lal from Bilaspur. When Nandlal got it checked, he was shocked.

According to the police, on October 2, 2024, Nand Lal, a resident of Jhanduta in Bilaspur, received a call from a person named Raju. He told that three gold bricks have been found while digging the house. Raju told Nandlal the price of one brick is Rs 2 lakh and called him to Ferozepur Jhirka.

Nand Lal borrowed money from relatives and reached Ferozepur Jhirka with the money. He met Raju at the bus stand and bought a brick and gave him two lakh rupees. When Nandlal came home and got the brick checked, it was found to be fake. After this Raju’s phone also got switched off.

On February 23, Raju called Nandlal to sell 2 more bricks. Nand Lal showed his cleverness and agreed to buy them and called him to his house. This time Nand Lal had already informed the police and gave full details of the fraud that happened with him earlier. Yesterday as soon as Raju and his other partner reached Nand Lal’s house, the police arrested them.

Bilaspur SP Sandeep Dhawal said that two accused have been arrested with three fake bricks. He said that interrogation of the arrested accused is going on. The police team is investigating the matter.
