Shimla: The hearing was held in the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Court on Saturday in the Shimla-based Sanjauli Mosque case. The Muslim side demanded additional time in the court to demolish three floors and told that till now 50 percent work of demolishing the mosque has been done.
The Waqf Board was not able to present the record in the court today regarding the ownership of the mosque land. Advocate BS Thakur of the Waqf Board told that correction is being done in the revenue record. Therefore, the mosque committee should be given time for the hearing of the lower two floors. After this, the hearing of the Sanjauli Mosque case was postponed till March 15.
Let us tell you that lack of budget is also coming in the way of demolishing the mosque. While building it, a large number of apple traders from the Muslim community had given money. But money is not being received to demolish it. Due to this, even two floors could not be completely removed in about two and a half months. Only the walls of the upper two floors could be demolished.
On 5 October, the Municipal Commissioner ordered the demolition of the 3 floors built illegally on Sanjauli Mosque within 2 months. After this, the demolition work has started.
The decision of the Municipal Commissioner Court is yet to come regarding the lower two floors.
Sanjauli Mosque had caused uproar in the entire state. After Shimla, Hindu organizations demonstrated in Solan, Mandi, Kullu and Sirmaur districts also in the mosque case and demanded the demolition of illegally built mosques. Due to this, the atmosphere in the entire state became tense.
